Un agente de la CIA informó a sus superiores en 1955 de que Adolf Hitler no había muerto. Según su teoría, el genocida nazi había escapado de Alemania al término de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, se había cambiado el nombre por el de Adolf Schrittelmayor y disfrutaba de sus días de incógnito en Colombia.
Esta es una de las sorpresas que ha deparado la desclasificación de los documentos relativos al asesinato del presidente John Fitzgerald Kennedy, en noviembre de 1963.
El agente, según el documento publicado en la página web de la CIA, recibió un aviso de un "amigo de confianza" de Hitler, que trabajó a sus órdenes en Europa: "Afirmó que en septiembre de 1955, Philip Citroen, un exoficial alemán, le informó de que Hitler todavía estaba vivo".
Esa afirmación no fue lo único que llegó a manos del agente, ya que también recibió una fotografía en la que se observa a un hombre muy parecido a Hitler, bajo el siguiente epígrafe: "Adolf Schrittelmayor, Tunga, Colombia, América del Sur, 1954".
No obstante, la información jamás fue confirmada por autoridades, ni colombianas ni estadounidenses.
