Pep Guardiola vuelve a ser noticia y no por el fútbol. El actual entrenador del Manchester City ha vuelto a ser abanderado de la causa independentista catalana, esta vez en un vídeo de la plataforma Omnium compartido por Jordi Cuixart. En él, aparece el técnico y exjugador manifestándose a favor de la “libertad” de la región junto a otros reconocidos activistas.
En su intervención, Guardiola pide a las instituciones españolas que “cesen su represión ideológica” contra Cataluña. A su petición se suman otros personajes como el lingüista Noam Chomsky o la activista política y premio Nobel de la Paz Jody Williams o el periodista Martín Caparrós. Todos ellos reclaman “libertad y justicia” y urgen al Gobierno a liberar a lo que consideran “nueve presos políticos”.
En el mensaje que acompaña al tweet, Cuixart reconoce que “después de 600 días en prisión, la represión del Estado sigue siendo el mejor altavoz de nuestra lucha universal por los derechos humanos, civiles y políticos, para la autodeterminación. Ninguna renuncia, nunca podrán encarcelar la libertad ni la vida!”
Son habituales las intervenciones proindependencia del antiguo entrenador del Fútbol Club Barcelona, algunas de forma simbólica y otras de un modo más activo. Hace cuatro años cerró la candidatura de CDC, ERC y entidades soberanistas para las elecciones del 27-S.
La polémica del lazo amarillo en Inglaterra
También ha llegado a ser sancionado por la Federación Inglesa de Fútbol por lucir un lazo amarillo -símbolo utilizado en solidaridad con los presos catalanes-, “un mensaje político” que vulnera las reglas del organismo:
“Hago esto porque en España dos personas precisas que defienden algo como votar (...) están en la cárcel. Es injusto”, dijo entonces refiriéndose a Jordi Sánchez y Jordi Cuixart, los dos primeros líderes indepedentistas encarcelados. “Si me quieren suspender -la UEFA, la Premier League, la FIFA-, está bien. Estaré suspendido. Hasta que salgan (de la cárcel), estarán conmigo. Pueden suspenderme, pero ellos están en la cárcel”, añadió por entonces.
También manifestó su “tristeza” en relación a la aplicación del artículo 155 de la Constitución, en un día “triste para Europa, el mundo y la democracia”. “Cualquier demanda de la sociedad es más importante que las leyes”, señaló aquel 21 de octubre de 2017.
Ahora, aprovechando el descanso futbolístico, vuelve a ser protagonista de un vídeo que ha logrado convertirse en viral en Twitter.
