La plataforma Pacto por el Mar Menor ha denunciado este viernes que los últimos informes del comité de asesoramiento científico indican que la laguna está “al borde” del episodio de eutrofización de 2016, conocido como “sopa verde”, y de la anoxia que provocó la masiva mortandad de peces en 2019.
En un comunicado, esta plataforma señala que los documentos corroboran lo que viene denunciando desde hace semanas: la “altísima turbidez” debido al aumento de la clorofila y baja salinidad y niveles muy bajos de oxígeno disuelto.
Sin embargo, el Pacto por el Mar Menor rechaza que el informe achaque a una posible DANA un nuevo episodio de mortandad de peces, cuando “ya se ha dicho por activa y por pasiva” que la gota fría no fue la culpable, sino las condiciones ambientales, que se habían “agravado” desde el pico de eutrofización de 2016.
Además, la plataforma censura que el comité de asesoramiento científico contemple la llegada de cantidades ingentes de agua y nutrientes, pero “en ningún caso” mencionan la causa de esos nitratos (de 3 a 8 toneladas diarias), “como si surgiesen de la tierra por generación espontánea”.
Por eso, critica que el informe omita que esas aguas contaminadas proceden de excedentes de riego que transcurren de manera superficial a través de las ramblas y a través del acuífero, cuyo nivel freático está altísimo debido a la cantidad de agua que lleva recibiendo de la agricultura y ganadería intensiva.
Al respecto, lamenta que el comité de asesoramiento científico no mencione la “dejadez” de la administración cuando permite que “varios miles de hectáreas” se rieguen de manera “ilegal”, y que se siga cultivando incumpliendo la Ley de Protección del Mar Menor.
“Así, tenemos la tremenda situación que no solo arruina el ecosistema, sino la economía y la calidad de vida de los habitantes y veraneantes de la zona”, concluye el comunicado.
