El papa Francisco ha asegurado que ya ha firmado su renuncia en caso de impedimento médico: “Yo ya he firmado mi renuncia (...). Ya la tienen”.
“Yo ya he firmado mi renuncia. Era Tarcisio Bertone el secretario de Estado. Yo la firmé y le dije: En caso de impedimento por cuestiones médicas o qué sé yo, acá está mi renuncia. Ya la tienen. No sé a quién se la habrá dado el cardenal Bertone, pero se la di cuando era secretario de Estado”, relata el papa en una entrevista con ABC.

En esta, el pontífice, que este sábado cumplió 86 años, se refiere también a los casos de abusos sexuales por parte de algunos religiosos: “Contra los abusos no hay negociación posible, son personas destruidas”.
“Es muy doloroso, muy doloroso. Son personas destruidas por quien tenía que haberlas ayudado a madurar y a crecer. Eso es muy duro. Aunque hubiera un solo caso, es monstruoso que la persona que te tiene que llevar a Dios te destruya en el camino. Y sobre esto no hay negociación posible”.
En cuanto a si la sociedad percibe que la Iglesia actúa con decisión y sobre el perdón, el papa señala que “el hecho de estar caminando en esto es un buen camino. Ahora, no depende sólo de nosotros que se logre o no se logre el perdón”.
“Pero hay una cosa que quiero decir. Hay que interpretar los problemas con la hermenéutica de su época (...). La hermenéutica de antes era esconder todo, como por desgracia ahora se hace en algunos sectores de la sociedad, como las familias y los barrios”.

Preguntado sobre si tiene alguna explicación para los encubrimientos de otras épocas, responde: “Es un progreso de la humanidad que se va haciendo cargo cada vez más de cuestiones morales que no tienen que subsistir así. Tomar cada vez más conciencia. Y esa fue la valentía de Benedicto”, en referencia al papa emérito.
“No hay fuerza suficiente para encarar los abusos”
Según estadísticas, añade, entre el 42 y el 46% de los abusos se producen en ámbito familiar o barrial, y se tapan.
“Nosotros hacíamos lo mismo hasta que saltaron los escándalos en Boston en torno a 2002. ¿Por qué? Mi explicación es esta: no hay fuerza suficiente para encararlos. Ojo, comprendo que no sepan cómo encararlos, pero no los justifico”.
“Primero la Iglesia los tapaba, luego tuvo la gracia de ampliar la mirada y de decir ‘no’, hasta las últimas consecuencias”.
Sobre la situación en Ucrania dice: “Hacemos lo que podemos. No hacen caso. Lo que pasa en Ucrania es de terror. Hay una crueldad enorme. Esto sí que es gravísimo y es lo que continuamente denuncio”.
El papa habla también de Cataluña e indica que la iglesia no puede hacer propaganda por un lado o por otro, tiene que acompañar al pueblo para que encuentre una solución definitiva.
