El Parlamento Europeo votará mañana una resolución en la que reconocerá a Juan Guaidó como presidente de Venezuela, tras constatar que Nicolás Maduro "ha rechazado públicamente la posibilidad de celebrar nuevas elecciones presidenciales", tras la petición de la Unión Europea (UE).
Fuentes de los grupos popular y socialista en la Eurocámara, los dos partidos mayoritarios, confirmaron a Efe que votarán a favor de esta resolución, por lo que ya cuenta con un respaldo suficiente entre los parlamentarios para salir adelante.
"El Parlamento Europeo reconoce a Juan Guaidó como el presidente interino legítimo de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela de acuerdo a la Constitución de Venezuela (...) y expresa su respaldo absoluto a su hoja de ruta", dice la Eurocámara en una resolución que se votará este jueves y a la que Efe tuvo hoy acceso.

La resolución está elaborada también nombre del grupo de los conservadores y reformistas (ECR) y del grupo liberal (ALDE), si bien fuentes liberales apuntan a que algunos eurodiputados de esta formación podrían no sumarse.
El texto insta igualmente a la jefa de la diplomacia europea, Federica Mogherini, y a los Estados miembros de la UE a reconocer a Guaidó "hasta que se puedan convocar nuevas elecciones presidenciales libres, transparentes y creíbles para restaurar la democracia".
La resolución condena la violencia y la represión en Venezuela y rechaza "cualquier propuesta o intento que pueda implicar el uso de la violencia para resolver la crisis". Asimismo, reitera que la Asamblea Nacional (Parlamento) es "el único organismo democrático legítimo en Venezuela" y recalca que sus poderes "deben ser restaurados y respetados", incluyendo "la seguridad de sus miembros".
La resolución insta a Mogherini a "contactar a los países de la región y a otros actores clave para crear un grupo de contacto que pueda mediar para llegar a un acuerdo para pedir elecciones presidenciales basadas en un calendario acordado, condiciones iguales para todos los actores, transparencia y observadores internacionales.
