El campamento de inmigrantes de Calais fue escenario este sábado de disturbios, después de que las autoridades francesas anunciasen que las labores de desmantelamiento del campo conocido como 'La Jungla' darán comienzo este lunes. Alrededor de 6.400 inmigrantes habitan el campamento.
Los trabajos de evacuación darán comienzo después de que la Justicia haya rechazado las impugnaciones presentadas en las últimas semanas por una decena de ONG's, que han denunciado que se trata de una medida apresurada y sin garantías para los afectados. Según el Gobierno francés, los inmigrantes serán repartidos por 454 centros de toda Francia.
La operación durará en torno a una semana y estará supervisada por unos 1.250 policías y gendarmes, según ha informado el ministerio de Interior francés. Se ha habilitado un hangar de más de 3.000 metros cuadrados para facilitar el proceso inicial de redistribución, ha explicado la prefecta de Paso de Calais, Fabienne Buccio.

QUÉ PASARÁ CON LOS MENORES
Los 1.300 menores no acompañados que se calcula continúan en 'La Jungla' contarán con un acompañamiento específico. Sin embargo, la organización Human Rights Watch (HRW) ha pedido a los Gobiernos de Francia y Reino Unido que garanticen la seguridad y la atención de los menores no acompañados, además de un adecuado alojamiento, antes de que el campamento sea demolido.
Reino Unido ha prometido facilitar la entrada de estos menores si se comprueba que tienen familia en territorio británico. De hecho, un total de 194 de ellos han sido trasladados al país durante la última semana, según la ONG France Terre d'Asile.
De ellos, 141 se beneficiaron de la reunificación familiar y 53 niñas fueron llevadas allí por su condición de vulnerabilidad, pese a no contar con allegados.
La normativa que posibilita que sean trasladados al Reino Unido menores refugiados no acompañados de adultos, pero que son considerados particularmente vulnerables, fue aprobada a raíz de los esfuerzos efectuados en abril por el laborista británico Lord Dubs.
De ellos, unos 400 tienen derecho a cruzar legalmente al Reino Unido por los familiares que tienen en suelo británico, pero el resto, de acuerdo con asociaciones humanitarias, se encuentran en una situación de extrema vulnerabilidad si no se les ofrece un plan de acogida rápido y seguro antes del desmantelamiento.
