El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, ha acusado este sábado a los “criminales de extrema izquierda” de estar detrás del aumento de las manifestaciones en todo el país, tras la muerte del afroamericano George Floyd, y ha asegurado que detendrá las protestas violentas en el país.
“Criminales de extrema izquierda, matones y otros no podrán incendiar comunidades”, ha afirmado Trump durante su intervención en Florida, donde ha acudido al lanzamiento de la nave Space X.
Concretamente, Trump ha aludido al grupo Antifa al asegurar que están detrás del aumento de las protestas en Estados Unidos, según recoge la prensa estadounidense.
“No habrá anarquía”, ha afirmado Trump en relación a las protestas y ha insistido en que la civilización debe ser “apreciada, defendida y protegida”. “Las voces de las personas que respetan la ley deben de ser escuchadas”, ha expresado el presidente.
El mandatario ha acudido al lanzamiento del primer vuelo tripulado estadounidense en una nave estadounidense privada y desde suelo estadounidense desde que en 2011 concluyeran los vuelos del transbordador espacial.
“Es increíble, la tecnología, el poder. Estoy orgulloso de las personas de la NASA, todas las personas que han trabajado de manera conjunta, en lo público y en lo privado. “Cuando ves un espectáculo como este es increíble”, ha manifestado, según recoge la cadena CNN.
Estas declaraciones del presidente estadounidense se producen cuando las autoridades de las principales ciudades estadounidenses se preparan ya para una nueva jornada de protestas por la muerte del afroamericano George Floyd después de que el viernes las manifestaciones terminaran con graves disturbios.
Durante la pasada noche se registraron protestas y disturbios en una treintena de ciudades del país, que se saldaron con dos muertos ― un joven de 19 años en Detroit y un agente federal en Oakland, donde resultó herido de bala un compañero suyo ― y cientos de detenidos.
La Casa Blanca niega racismo sistémico
Por su parte, el asesor de Seguridad Nacional de la Casa Blanca, Robert O’Brien, ha rechazado este domingo que haya un “racismo sistémico” en la Policía y ha atribuido a unas pocas “manzanas podridas” los incidentes.
“No creo que haya un racismo sistémico. Creo que el 99,9% de nuestros agentes son buenos americanos”, ha afirmado O’Brian en una entrevista con la CNN. O’Brian ha recordado que muchos policías son afroamericanos, “hispanos” y asiáticos.
“Creo que son estadounidenses extraordinarios. Son mis héroes. Pero hay algunas manzanas podridas dentro que dan mala fama. Hay algunos malos policías que son racistas y hay policías que puede que no tengan la formación adecuada y hay otros que simplemente son malos policías que deben ser extirpados”, ha argumentado.
Agentes como el “sucio policía que mató a George Floyd” deben ser extirpados, ha indicado, aunque no ha mencionado a Derek Chauvin, imputado formalmente por la muerte de Floyd. O’Brian ha recordado que Chauvin tiene un “largo historial de estas conductas”. ”¿Por qué seguía en el cuerpo? ¿Dónde estaban los fiscales y la dirección de la Policía?”, ha planteado.
O’Brien ha defendido además la retórica de confrontación del presidente, Donald Trump, quien se ha referido a los manifestantes como “matones” y que ha advertido que “cuando comienzan los saqueos, comienzan los tiros”, una frase utilizada por el jefe de la Policía de Miami Walter Headley durante el movimiento de protesta por los derechos civiles en 1967.
O’Brien ha asegurado que Trump espera “parar la violencia” y ha atribuido a la “pasión” estas palabras del presidente. Además, ha recordado que cuando Trump vio por primera vez el vídeo de la detención de Floyd estaba en el ‘Air Force One’ y que se mostró “conmovido”.
