Trump arremete contra la Liga de Fútbol: "Si los jugadores se arrodillan ante el himno, no la veré"
El presidente de EEUU llamó a la NFL y solicitó que se despidiese a todos aquellos deportistas que lo hicieran.
La mayoría de los estadounidenses reconocen estar de acuerdo con la protesta que el mariscal de campo Colin Kaepernick hizo en el 2016 durante la entonación del himno nacional, antes que comenzasen los partidos.
Sin embargo, el presidente Donald Trump mantiene el duelo contra los deportistas que lo vuelvan a hacer, como ocurriera hace cuatro años.
De momento, a través de su Twitter, ya ha enviado la promesa de no ver más fútbol americano y también de apoyar lo que han dicho otros aficionados de no comprar entradas para ver los partidos, cuando ya puedan llegar a las gradas de los campo tras la pandemia del coronavirus.
Además, el mandatario estadounidense criticó con dureza al comisionado de la Liga Nacional del Fútbol (NFL), Roger Goodell por decir que arrodillarse para protestar contra la injusticia social durante el himno nacional no es una falta de respeto a la bandera y al país.
Más crítico ha sido Trump con la revocación de la Federación de Fútbol de Estados Unidos de la prohibición a los jugadores y jugadoras del equipo nacional de arrodillarse como protesta contra la injusticia social y la brutalidad policial.
El presidente Trump dijo que desconectará a la NFL y al equipo nacional de fútbol de los Estados Unidos si sus jugadores se arrodillan durante el himno nacional.
El mandatario estadounidense, en una serie de tuits y reenvios que realizó el sábado por la noche respaldó los comentarios hechos por los representantes republicanos Jim Jordan y Matt Gaetz sobre la Federación de Fútbol de Estados Unidos, que la semana pasada derogaron la regla promulgada en el 2017, que exigía a los jugadores y jugadoras que se mantuviesen de pie durante el himno nacional.
La prohibición fue revocada debido a las protestas a nivel nacional que estallaron a raíz de la muerte del hombre negro, George Floyd, cuando estaba bajo custodia de la policía de Minneapolis.
Antes de su fallecimiento, un agente blanco le mantuvo la rodilla sobre su cuello durante ocho minutos y 46 segundos, a pesar que Floyd les dijo que no podía respirar.
“Ha quedado claro que esta política estaba equivocada y menoscababa el importante mensaje de Black Lives Matter”, anunció el miércoles, la Federación de Fútbol de Estados Unidos.
”¡Ya no la veré mucho!” Trump escribió en Twitter, vinculando una entrevista de Gaetz con una estación de televisión de Pensacola, Florida.
En un tuit, Gaetz, congresista republicano por Florida, dijo que “más bien, Estados Unidos no tiene un equipo de fútbol porque el mismo no lo representará como país si no respeta el Himno Nacional”.
A lo que Trump respondió: ”¡Y parece que la NFL también se dirige en esa dirección, pero no conmigo viéndola!”.
A principios de este mes, Goodell, dijo que la liga estaba “equivocada” por no “escuchar a los jugadores de la NFL antes y alentar a todos a hablar y protestar pacíficamente”.
Goodell no mencionó por nombre a Kaepernick, exmariscal de campo de los 49ers de San Francisco, quien fue el primero que comenzó a arrodillarse durante el himno durante la pretemporada 2016.
Kaepernick, que ha sido incluido en la lista negra de la liga, dijo que lo estaba haciendo para protestar contra la brutalidad policial.
Trump, indignado con los jugadores que se arrodillaron, llamó a los dueños de la NFL y les solicitó que fuesen mucho más duros e inflexibles, además de decirles que despidiesen a todos aquellos deportistas que lo hiciesen.
En un discurso electoral, en septiembre del 2017, Trump sugirió que los dueños respondieran diciendo: “saquen a ese hijo de puta del campo ahora mismo, y lo despidan. ¡Está despedido!”.
