El vicepresidente segundo del Gobierno y ministro de Derechos Sociales y Agenda 2030, Pablo Iglesias, ha pedido “perdón” a todas las personas que han sido víctimas de violencia y abusos sexuales en la infancia, para los que “llega tarde” la Ley orgánica de protección a la infancia y la adolescencia frente a la violencia, que se ha aprobado este martes en Consejo de Ministros.
“Quiero pedir perdón en nombre de los poderes públicos a todas las víctimas de esta violencia execrable para los que hemos llegado tarde, ojalá sus historias sirvan para que nunca más les vuelva a suceder a otros niños y adolescentes lo que les pasó a ellos”, ha indicado Pablo Iglesias este martes 9 de junio en la rueda de prensa posterior al Consejo de Ministros.
Iglesias ha asegurado que es una ley fundamental para proteger “por fin” los derechos de la infancia en España y ha asegurado que se van a “esforzar mucho” en el trámite parlamentario para que sea “una ley de amplio consenso”. “Las ideologías no tienen que separarnos a la hora de contar con una normativa que proteja a los niños, niñas y adolescentes en España frente a la violencia”, ha subrayado.
Para el vicepresidente segundo, es “un orgullo” presentar esta norma con la que el país se va a colocar “al nivel de los estándares internacionales más altos en protección a la infancia”.
También ha agradecido la labor de concienciación de los trabajadores de servicios sociales así como el trabajo de las ONG y organizaciones de la sociedad civil “que llevan décadas defendiendo los derechos de la infancia” y el del pianista James Rhodes, que sufrió abusos sexuales en su infancia. Precisamente, Iglesias ha bautizado la norma como ‘Ley Rhodes’ por el pianista británico.
