El Chelsea se ha impuesto en la final de la Champions League al Manchester City por 0-1 con un solitario gol de Havertz en la primera mitad.
El conjunto de Thomas Tuchel, que el pasado año perdió la final con el París Saint Germain ante el Bayern Múnich, resistió el acoso del City de Pep Guardiola hasta sellar el triunfo.
Un gol del alemán Kai Havertz a tres minutos del descanso desniveló la final en la primera parte a favor del Chelsea.
El conjunto londinense rentabilizó el gol anotado en el minuto 42 cuando Havertz aprovechó un buen pase de Mason Mount para encarar al meta Ederson, superarle y marcar a puerta vacía.
El cuadro de Manchester, que buscaba su primera Champions y Pep Guardiola su tercera en su primera final desde 2011, apenas tuvo creatividad ofensiva. Chocó con un muro el campeón de la Premier, una piedra que en esta Champions ya habían sufrido Real Madrid y Atlético. La final inglesa tuvo un claro campeón.

La declaración de intenciones fue buena en ambos equipos pero solo prosperó la del Chelsea. Del saque inicial, solo tres jugadores del City, más el portero, empezaban fuera de la línea de centro. La intención de los celestes era atacar, pero además de hacerlo poco descuidaron mucho la retaguardia. Werner fue una pesadilla.
El delantero alemán tuvo tres ocasiones muy claras en 15 minutos, sobre todo un balón que no llegó a rematar en una patada al aire y otro pase de la muerte que disparó centrado a Ederson. El meta brasileño fue el mejor asistente de los de Manchester, a Sterling para dejarle en un mano a mano que truncó James.
El City quiso hacerse con el balón para dejar de sufrir ya que el ida y vuelta le estaba castigando. El 0-0 mandaba aún cuando Foden asomó para los de Guardiola, con un remate de su clase que cortó providencial Rüdiger a la media hora y Mahrez después no estuvo atento a rematar un pase de Walker, que ganó la línea de fondo.
La final entró en pause durante muchos minutos por las molestias y finalmente cambio de Thiago Silva. Una tranquilidad que visto lo visto parecía agradecer el City, pero que igual le llevó a un fatídico último error en el primer tiempo. Un agujero como una casa entre los centrales lo vio Havertz, y Mount le dio el balón.
El ariete alemán se quedó solo ante Ederson y no falló en el 0-1, su primer gol en esta Champions en un momento psicológico. A partir de ahí, el Chelsea lo tuvo claro, defender con la fiabilidad que le dio Tuchel y buscar a la contra la sentencia. A los de Guardiola les costó y mucho mejorar el bagaje ofensivo ante una zaga de cinco.
El cuadro ‘blue’ vivió tranquilo en la reanudación ante un rival sin inspiración y encima con prisas. Al campeón de la Premier se le complicó más si cabe la papeleta con el ‘ko’ de Kevin De Bruyne, por un golpe en la cara con Rüdiger. El capitán del City no pudo seguir sobre el césped y Guardiola aprovechó para cambiar el plan.
Gabriel Jesus y Fernandinho fueron la alternativa ‘citizen’, pero siempre había una camiseta ‘blue’ salvando los muebles. A 20 minutos del final llegó la combinación rápida del City en busca de la meta rival, pero Azpilicueta evitó el remate final de Gündogan. El Chelsea lo pudo matar a la contra, pero Pulisic, recambio de Werner, perdonó la jugada que lanzó Havertz a placer.
La defensa del Chelsea, con Kante de capitán general en la avanzadilla, no se dio un respiro. Agüero, en su despedida del City, entró en su búsqueda, pero la que tuvo decidió asistir en vez de rematar. El futuro ‘sky blue’ que bien puede ser Foden tuvo una de esas últimas acciones, con siete minutos de añadido, a la desesperada que el Chelsea en manada no falló a tapar.
La de Oporto es la segunda Liga de Campeones en la historia del Chelsea, que consiguió la primera en la temporada 2011-12 ante el Bayern Múnich.
