El cardenal alemán Reinhard Marx ha presentado su renuncia al papa Francisco. Lo ha hecho por la “catástrofe de los abusos sexuales” de la Iglesia. No por haber participado en ellos, sino porque ha afirmado que es “corresponsable”.
En una carta dirigida al pontífice el pasado 21 de mayo y que ha revelado la archidiócesis de esa ciudad del sur de Alemania, Marx ha admitido que las investigaciones sobre abusos sexuales han mostrado “mucho fracaso personal y errores administrativos”. Hasta el punto de haber señalado que la Iglesia se encuentra “en punto muerto”.

“Quiero mostrar que el puesto no está por delante, sino el encargo del Evangelio”, ha escrito Marx en su carta al papa, quien ha manifestado que en los últimos meses ya había considerado en repetidas ocasiones renunciar al cargo.
“Quiero dejar claro que estoy dispuesto a asumir responsabilidades personales, no solo por errores propios, sino por los de la Institución de la Iglesia a la que he contribuido y conformado durante décadas”, ha destacado el cardenal alemán.
La investigación de Colonia
La renuncia del arzobispo de Múnich y Freising se conoce después de que la semana pasada el papa anunciara el envío de una comisión a Colonia para analizar los cientos de casos de abusos sexuales a menores cometidos en esa archidiócesis.
No es el único acontecimiento que ha podido precipitar el abandono de Marx, pues hace sólo unos días el Vaticano aprobó la histórica reforma que considera que los abusos a menores son delitos contra la dignidad de las persona.
Marx, de 67 años, ha agregado en su carta que las investigaciones a la Iglesia alemana, que sobre todo se centraron en la última década y en lo sucedido en Colonia, demuestran la existencia “también de un fracaso institucional o sistémico”.
El cardenal ha resuelto que el debate sobre esta polémica cuestión ha permitido ver “que algunos en la Iglesia no quisieron reconocer la corresponsabilidad, y con ello la culpa, de la Institución y se posicionaron así contra cualquier diálogo de reforma y renovación en relación con la crisis de los abusos”.
