La evacuación organizada del campo de inmigrantes de Calais, el mayor de Francia, comenzó hoy a las 08.00 hora local (06.00 GMT) con largas colas frente al centro de gestión abierto por las autoridades galas.
Provistos de maletas y de todos los enseres que poseen, numerosos inmigrantes, la mayor parte afganos, eritreos y sudaneses, comenzaron a llegar al lugar desde la madrugada, para ser trasladados a uno de los 450 centros de acogida que el Gobierno francés ha abierto en el territorio.

En las últimas semanas, personal del Estado y de asociaciones humanitarias habían iniciado una campaña de información para persuadirles de que debían acogerse a este dispositivo antes que perseverar en su intención de permanecer en Calais, el punto más cercano al Reino Unido, el destino soñado por la mayor parte de ellos.
Esa labor parece haber dado sus frutos y una gran mayoría de hombres aislados, aunque también algunas mujeres, empezaron a llegar al centro de selección, donde se les irá distribuyendo en autobuses para salir hacia su destino.
En total, las autoridades francesas prevén que hoy partan 60 autobuses con 50 inmigrantes cada uno, una cadencia que esperan mantener en los primeros días, pero que irá en descenso a medida que queden menos personas en el campamento.
Mañana están previstos 45 autobuses y el miércoles otros 40.
En total, entre 6.000 y 8.000 personas están en la llamada "jungla" de Calais, según las autoridades, que prevén que la operación dure una semana.
Los menores y las familias, muy minoritarios en este campamento, serán objeto de una atención particular en el centro de selección.
En el caso de los primeros, se estudiará si tienen familia en el Reino Unido, en cuyo caso serán trasladados a ese país en función de los acuerdos entre París y Londres.
A los inmigrantes se les ofrecen dos posibles regiones de destino y en función de la que elijan serán trasladados a un autobús, que partirá una vez que se llene.
La principal incógnita reside en los que rechacen dejar Calais y quieran seguir intentando cruzar el Canal de la Mancha.
El Gobierno francés ha previsto un importante despliegue policial, con el refuerzo de 2.000 agentes, para evitar que se reinstalen en otros campos de fortuna.
Apoyados por militantes radicales, algunos de ellos han provocado incidentes con las fuerzas del orden, que los disolvieron con gases lacrimógenos, los últimos esta misma madrugada.
